I bought 4 quarts of Formula Shell in 5w30 tonight for my next oil change. Anyone have experience or thoughts on it? Going to be dumping my Supertech 5w30 after 5100 miles of use.

its good stuff, quality dino from Sopus

i used it for my accord and my dads 91 corolla runs just as good any other SM rated motor oil

:D

I actually was using it in my RX8 before I got some good deals on Mobil 5000 and Valvoline White bottles. Walgreens of all places had a killer sale on them.

I would have no problem using it or recommending it as it is made by SOPUS. Good quality oil at a reasonable price use it w/ confidence!

Supposedly, there's a very good Shell 5K UOA here on the Used Oil Analysis Board. I would not have trust going 5.1K using Supertech dino, but I would not think twice about doing 5.1K with the Lubrizol add-pack in Shell.

I like it, I've done about 4-5 oil changes in my Saturns using the Formula Shell 10w30. I pick up a case of 12 quarts from my local Costco. It's cheap, and it seems to work A-OK.

Given the price I get it for around here, I don't think there is a better deal to be had.. its a little more than $2/quart.

Good for the summer, good ADD, the YB has better cold flow properties. Running 10w30 Rotella T CJ4 in the Subaru, and topping off with formula shell 5w30.

Yes, good stuff! I recently used up my case that was .79 a quart after the rebate from Checker. Hope they do another sale here soon.

Formula Shell is a very respectable oil at a darn good price. I just picked up a few quarts from AAP with the $10 off coupon available on this site.

I plan on using it in my 2010 Mustang GT once I take delivery later this month. From a credible source on this site, I heard that Formula Shell is the factory fill on most Fords (obviously those requiring non-synthetic), as their current contract is with SOPUS.

Why wouldn't you trust the Supertech for a little over 5K miles? I think it would be good for that far. Arent most Dino oils that meet the API spec?

FWIW (little, probably), I used FS a couple times in the Prius when, mostly out of morbid curiosity, I decided to do an ARX cleaning. I used it for both the cleaning and rinse phases. I noticed no observable problems at all (this was was with the 5w30 variant). If you're a dino devotee (which is perfectly OK), I'd not think twice about using FS.

To the best of my knowledge, and the person who told me on this board (who is a very credible source, by the way), Ford currently uses Formula Shell as their factory fill. If you PM me, I can tell you the name of the person, just so I don't put him on the spot.

Well I had a quart of Valvoline Synpower leftover as well, so I used 1 Synpower and 3 of the Formula Shell. My own syn blend for the next 5k miles.

Are Havoline DS and Formula Shell on their way out?Maybe their going to be 5 qt. jugs only?I wish Wal-Mart sold the Formula Shell,I would load up!
