It's also a subscription service, so it's most brilliant for Ford and ADT who will be collecting the payments.

Also: Great, you now have video of the guy stealing tools from the bed of your truck. What are you going to do with that? Show your family at Thanksgiving? I'm sure your local PD will get the crime lab right on it and put out an APB.

Not where I live! The police will not come out unless there is an armed intruder threatening your life. As far as law enforcement's help is concerned, you are on your own.

More things to increase vehicle TCO and increase demand for scarce computer chips. Before I put that money into a fancy new vehicle, I'd consider moving to a safer part of town. Heck, in some areas you can buy a small home for the price of a decked out new pickup truck!

Pretty soon this will be too. Key, keys are becoming obsolete. Like ask a 10 year old why online videos are called “videos” and why you “rewind” them... the context will be lost

I would have been more excited for a TouchID start button. The vehicle cannot be started unless it’s an approved fingerprint.

Seems like there's a potential vulnerability with that, considering that every time you use it, you leave behind that fingerprint. Besides, what if you touch something hot and get a blister, or superglue/paint/etc on it, or the thief decides to cut your finger off?

Plus if it has to be programmed in, there has to be a way for a dealership to reprogram it, leaving open the possibility of a thief, reprogramming it too if not just bypassing it.

Then how are other people going to drive the car? You could lend it to a friend, have a valet park the car (some garages are valet only), take it in for service, etc.

ADT’s worthless. Hard pass.

Manual transmissions will eventually get a subscription service. If you don't pay ,you get only 1st and reverse. To get Overdrive you need to pay for the extra fancy Plus subscription package. /s
