My sister just picked up a used RV built on a F-450 cab with a Ford V10 Gas motor. The rig is two years old and only has 900 miles on it. Unfortunately the owner lost all the owners manuals so my sister ordered all new ones but they take time to come in and she wants to get going on a trip. So what oil to use? I'm thinking any current 5w30?

My #1 choice (if it were mine) for that application would be Chevron Delo 10w30. Or any other HDEO 10w30-- Rotella, Motorcraft, etc.

Not sure I would consider a 5w-20, unless there were a lot of short trips or very cold climate.

These Ford V10s are not hard on oil, but expect 6-8 MPG. That said, I would run a 5W40 or 0W40. I have had god luck with Castrol Syntec A3/B4 European made from WM. She'll Rotella T6 and Mobil 1 TDT are nice as well.

That said, any high quality syn 5W30/10W30 would be fine as well. That motor is still breaking in.

Not trying to be funny here... what’s wrong with the oil that’s in the sump? 900 miles on the odometer?

Sorry looks like the 2016 is 5w30....I'd run that at least, and perhaps go to a 40 since it WILL be under a heavy load pretty much all the time.

900 miles and two years old? I prefer to change it.

Xw -30 or higher, you won’t notice a mileage difference. 2015 and up use 30, not 20. Go to Ford Owners and just download a manual for free.

Mine used a quart in a 5k interval on 20 grades, not enough to add on 30 grades.

I suppose I'll pile on the bandwagon for Rotella/Delo/Delvac 10w30 HDEO. Robust product that can be obtained at any truck stop for top offs should you need some during the sure to be frequent fuel fill ups.

Hard to beat any of the 10w30 HDEO in a gas engine of any application that's not required to start below 0F unassisted.
