Ford Removing Features from New Cars

All this over self parking removed . You guys and OP are really Are 😂

I appreciate your point.

You missed my point - my point is the "de-contenting" to make money.

Two ways to make more money - charge more for the same product or service OR charge the same but provide less of the service or product. Which one do you think is happening here?

It's the inflation cycle. Prices go up, then wages go up. Right now, we are in the in-between stage where manufacturers have squeezed all the price increases they can from the consumer under the guise of "logistical issues". Now, they have to find a "new" way to keep up the higher profits in the face of slowing purchases.

The easy way is remove a little bit of product from the purchaser (hopefully without them noticing). 1/2 ounce of chips from the bags, a few grams from the spice jar, a little "bit" from the ketchup container.

For them as manufacturer's, it all adds up to more money with "more" items sold. You, as the consumer, only see a "small" loss. The manufacturer continues onward to the bank with the profits.

FCA/Stellantis has also begun the de-contenting by deleting engine covers, cutting back on free oil changes, etc. Prob due to last UAW contract.
My engine covers always seem to end up as unintentional wall art anyway. Maybe I’ll put a clock in the one to my truck which is currently outside leaned up against the garage 🤔

Car " magazine" writers call anything that can't get to 60 mph in 8 seconds or less a dog. A 1974 Datsun B-210 took 22.5 seconds. I guess freeways and on-ramps make it too difficult to go back. Having said that, maybe a 1200 cc turbo would be the ticket in a Corolla. The Chevy Malibu has embraced a 1.5 liter Turbo as its base engine that gets it 35 MPG on the highway if you keep your foot out of it. Better gas mileage helps to keep costs down as well as strippo cars.
I see now that the Chevy Trax comes with a 1.2 liter turbo. Good for them. Needless to say Car and Driver says it needs a more powerful engine even though it does 0 to 60 in 8.8 seconds. What did I say about that magical 8.0 second rule?

I don't need or want all the extras on cars and trucks just give me an option for a truck with AC and automatic and PS and PB. Also want it low enough to the ground that I don't need step bars to get in the cab. Broke my left hip years ago and 90 degrees is all it will bend. Getting it on a step bar isn't easy. OK, Wipers too. No display screens ,just knobs well placed. That way you just reach for them and don't take your eyes off the road.
