Ford Ranger Cooler Line Flush, questions.

Hey guys,

I get the jist of a cooler line flush, and I think I may do it as I don't want to drop the pan 3 times. I'm not sure about this application though. I've seen the youtube video of the the guy doing this on a Honda(very helpful), but different car obviously.

Here's what I have; remove pan, clean magnets and pan, re-install and refill the with correct amount. As for the cooler line part, I wanted to do two quarts at a time.

My confusion is on the cooler lines themselves. I.E, which one to use. Also, the lines are not clamps, but nuts. Not sure if that makes it harder?

What I've personnally done on some applications, is loosen both cooler lines and blow through the one with compressed air to push all the old fluid out.
 
Based on the description on the parts in the linked PDF, I'd guess that the top line on the transmission is outbound. But Im not 100% on that, though it makes sense. So you would want to trace that to the radiator (looks like top) and disconnect it there. You will need a piece of hose to put over then end and route to a bucket.

If you want, you can do this first and start it long enough to drain the pan so you dont get as bad of a shower, since the pan will be (mostly) empty..

I don't have access to compressed air, is that an issue?

Thanks Onmo, that sounds like a good idea. I want to avoid spilling any. The top cooler line actually routes to the bottom in that picture.
 
Mike use the top line. In the past I have used a bucket and marked lines on it. Run the vihicle and pour in at the same rate it come out. It's pretty simple although you may want to manufacture a fittling to extend the line to help with this.

You can also do as Sdan suggested, but you will need compressed air and a blow gun with a rubber nozzel.

Why the rush to change the ATF with only 2k miles on the FF?

He was asking about the Pennzoil Ultra in the truck.

The FF ATF has 22,000 miles.
