The Altrom line is a mixed bag of brands, but is generally higher quality, so if you have a NAPA hub store in your area you may want to check there. I also got some Koyo bearings for my 1994 Ranger 4x4 via the NAPA Altrom line.
Whatever Ford used originally is very good. My '02 still has the original front wheel bearings at 225K miles and was just recently aligned. They have been repacked 2-3 times. They are probably Torrington, which was bought by Timken and then someone else, so probably not an option anymore. I just bought the Koyo and NTN bearings to have something quality on hand...still sitting on the shelf.
This was a good idea. Thanks.
NAPA Altrom was F-A-G p/n 211405645D made in South Korea for the '01 Ranger front outer. Unfortunately, that was the only Altrom line bearing they had for both vehicles.
Follow-up: NAPA Altrom p/n ATM 942 for '01 Ranger front inner are Koyo made in Japan. SKF p/n BR2 for the front outer on the '01 Ranger are made in Brazil so got 1 of those as well. All set. I thought NAPA still carried some good parts, but didn't realize it was under their Altrom line so thank you very much for that tip.
Yes, original front bearings on the '03 F-150 were Timken.
