Yes.

Off-duty CHP officer gets a Lexus as a loaner from a dealer. The dealer put an improper floor mat in the car, which caught the accelerator and held it down. Driver didn't know how to turn off the vehicle, because it had a start/stop switch he wasn't familiar with. Vehicle speeds out of control, crashes and kills all occupants.

It wasn't a defect in the design of the vehicle that caused the crash, but that wasn't known initially. The news reports were about a tragic crash where a car sped out of control and killed multiple people, and many people suspected a problem with the vehicle caused it.

All I'm saying is that there haven't been deaths or major injuries attributed correctly or incorrectly to the F-150 problem. That is why it isn't getting that much news coverage.

Now..... care to guess how many other cars have crashed and killed people due to floor mats? or other forms of "pedal entrapment"?


And the number of ACTUAL "pedal malfuntions" in the whole of the toyota world..... is 3. that's right. THREE.
AND.... they were issues WHILE PRESSING the pedal. They would stick, like when you have a nasty throttle body, stick at the initial pressing. NOT at wide open throttle.
AND, each and every toyota model (I've tried them all) WILL slow down, if you have the throttle to the floor and dynamite the brake pedal.
Now the tundra and occasionally a tacoma will slow down to 15 MPH or so, and then start putting on a smoke show from the rear tires OR the traction control cuts in, and the things just stop.

Media hype.
There ARE some underlying issues with all this, as well, but I"m not going to go there.
Let's just say, some things are overlooked if it supports someones agenda.

Makes me sick thinking about it.
