We bought a '14 Escape a couple of months ago, and I have looked through the owners manual but I can't find much info about the IOLM other than it will tell you when the oil needs changed.

My question is can the percentage remaining be accessed?

Its my wifes car and I just haven't had my hands on it long enough to poke around the information center.

On my F150 I can access % remaining a few ways from the menu. On the focus S, it just tells me as I haven't ever seen a % oil life.

Get a used oil analysis done to make sure that the oil you pick is sufficient for the interval that the OLM has it running.

What engine in your new Escape?

2.0 I am not going to used oil analysis the factory fill, just interested if the percentage remaining is available through the information screen.

On the steering wheel you'll see two sets of buttons. One on the left and one on the right. Use the one on the left to scroll through your menu items. To see the current percentage you have to go to vehicle information and toggle over at which point I believe you'll eventually scroll to your current oil percentage. If you want to reset your light you have to go to vehicle settings (weird, I know), in setting you'll toggle to oil life and hit enter. This will give you the option to reset to 5 percentages; go to the percentage you want to reset to and hold enter for 3 seconds.

I'm doing this based off of memory so I've likely missed something or stated something wrong, YMMV.

My parents have a w2013 Focuscape with the 2.0EB and MyFordTouch. It doesn't appear to be an oil life monitor, but just a reminder to change the oil.

They have the option of 5K, 7.5K or 10K oil changes.

Its two clicks on the "info" lever on the F-150.

The Ford IOLM works great. You can probably rely on it. I tested it with two used oil analysis on my last fill, which I ran to the bitter end, 8,300 miles. The analysis said I had plenty of add pack left, but luckily I had ordered the TAN test, which was high enough to signal a change.Everything was still well within spec. The IOLM is conservative. The device had picked up on the fact that my short-commute wasn't long enough to heat the add pack to allow it to do its job, and the acid build up was beginning to outrun the add pack, even though I still had a lot of powder dry, so to speak. That was a pretty sophisticated call by the IOLM.

I scrutinized the life remaining function on a percentage point by percentage point basis for a while. Supposedly there are lots of variables that go into it, but it became obvious to me that the thing Ford really hates is vehicle inactivity. Park the car for a few days and you will be dinged a couple of percentage points. Take a highway trip and the counter will practically stop and not immediately resume its countdown even if you resume your short-haul driving style.
