Anyone have a clue? I'm guessing MC 5w20 but just wanted to ask mainly so because my mil's new Escape gets it's FIRST oil change in a couple of days.

Expected mileage on factory fill is 8500 miles. Yes I am serious.

That is what the dealer instructed as well as the owners manual mind you.

Still 19% oil life remaining as of this past Monday. She bought it back after the new year sometime, AWD 3.0V6 model.

And? I don't see what the big deal is. Some people on this forum can't sleep at night unless they change their FF within the first 500 miles, but that does not mean it makes any difference otherwise.

I'm shocked it's that low. Factory fill on my cars was 10,000 miles (even back in 2000 when our Beetle TDI was brand new). I had no problem at all letting it go that long. Heck, I just did an 18k mile OCI in my Golf, netting my lowest metal wear rates ever.

Your wasting your money and time if you change the FF on that car at anything less than 6000 miles.

But if it makes you "feel good" go ahead and change it.

It's part synthetic anyhow so there is indeed no reason to change until around 8000 mi. give or take a few hundred.

Folks have got to get over the thought that they NEED to do very early changes today. That was necessary 30 years ago not today.

No big deal...to me at least.

I was like you guys playing devil's advocate with that phrase knowing how people react to not changing out the FF the very next mile you drive off the lot.

I never have done an early change yet

I am glad to see the few above are still sane! She is primarily highway cruiser though so it makes perfect sense to listen to what the OLM has to say in her case. I agree people tend to get too hung up on changing the FF ASAP.

That seems low my aunts Ford Fusion called for its first change at 12k miles, err well it was probably over a bit.

Modern cars need less servicing than in the past.
