My truck is approaching 125K miles so a spark plug change is getting closer. Engine performs great and fuel economy is still pretty what it’s always been . Looking at RA website they offer several different plugs for my engine but I noticed a NGK Ruthenium spark plug. It’s the most expensive but claims the best performance and longevity. Anyone here have any knowledge and experience with a Ruthenium plug ? Thanks

My son just installed them in his 2017, so no real feedback regarding longevity, etc.

I will say, if you have not don't yours yet, and you're on the OE ones at 125k miles, you're pushing your luck. Change them soon!

Still factory installed at this point
Hopefully top tier gas has helped

I appreciate your offer I really do
But I think I’ll go up for a plug that’s gonna run longer
My plan for this truck is a long run program of using top tier products for a long life
I want to see how long this 6.2L Ford will go
So far it’s been trouble free

If your 6.2L is running great, but going through a quart of oil every 1k miles, might be something to address when changing the plugs.

On other forums, some 6.2L owners report their engine using OOA one quart of oil every 1k miles. These 6.2L owners report the valve cover gaskets failing over time as the reason. Further these 6.2L owners state the valve cover designs have a flaw and actually replace their later model OEM 6.2L valve covers with earlier model 6.2L valve covers, which reportedly are less likely to be part of the reason of valve cover gaskets failing resulting in oil usage.

When I change the plugs on my 2015 6.2L with 110k miles, while I am "in there" I will also be replacing the valve covers and valve cover gaskets.

I had 2021 F250 with the 6.2 , my engine had phaser rattling at start up . Ford couldn't replicate it , alternator screeched in the winter if below 40f . 11,000 miles I quit driving it so I sold it .

If its any consolation, my good friend runs a fleet shop & services several Ford 6.2's. Has at least one with >720k mi in an F250 service body truck. He changes plugs on them every 100k with Motorcraft plugs.

That 6.2 is a really good engine. Take care of it & it'll take care of you (with possibly an intake manifold or valve spring issue along the way ;) )

That’s impressive numbers for a gas engine. I think the valve spring issue was fixed before my truck was made. As far as an intake issue not sure I know much about that Thanks

Mine does run great and doesn’t use any oil to amount to anything maybe 1/2 quart of oil between changes at the most in 5K miles Valve covers don’t leak at all so I don’t see the need to fix something that’s not broke

The only trucks he’s replaced valve springs on towed daily & fairly heavy.

The intake manifold has a butterfly valve that fails on occasion creating a tick that gets misdiagnosed regularly.

I need to investigate the butterfly valve
Any idea where this valve is located on the intake ?
Thanks
