Just curious what you would choose:
Ford 5-30 synthetic blend
or...
The Wal Mart Super Tech 5-30 full sythetic>???

I'm not looking for any changes post 3K. Just curious if the Ford might be a superior additive package. I'm sure the "synthetic" Super Tech is on the lower quality scale. Group III's (???)

Thanks...

Look on the bottle or do a Google search and see if either meet Ford Specification WSS-M2C153-H.

That is the old Ford spec. for SL/GF-3 the new SM/GF-4 Ford spec. is WSS-M2C929-A for 5w30. I agree with 427Z06 look for this spec. as better oils will meet it.

Yep, beat me to it. Look for WSS-M2C929-A.

Here's a reference: http://www.ilma.org/resources/fordltr_recommendations.pdf

I was just in wally world this weekend and I believe the new 5w30 syn blend MC 5w30 does have the spec WSS-M2C929 printed on the back. They still had a few of the non syn blend in stock.

I agree with the above statement.

Is the Super Tech Synthetic 5W-30 still rated ILSAC GF-3 and API SL? If it is then I suggest that you buy Motor Craft 5W-30 that is rated ILSAC GF-4 and API SM.

I just purchased some of the Motorcraft 5W30 discussed here. On the back it lists all of the specs that it meets. For a SM GF4 etc oil $1.43 a quart has easily got to be the best deal out there. It was also the only SM oil on the aisle. I have been buying Mobil 1 , I am going to give the Motorcraft a chance.

Cool, keep us posted of your progress. If you want a lot of friends, admirers, and to impress your wife/girlfriends, do a VOA and UOA on it too.
