I'm going a swap from good ol' green to G-05 on a 1999 Explorer tomorrow, and I've always disconnected the lower radiator hose to drain the system since some quick lube broke the radiator petcock. Is this the only way to drain the block as well or there's a block drain on these as well? I'd like to flush the block clean of any old stuff before I pour in the G-05.

I dunno, but when you find out, please respond. The Rat has a 4.0 ohv. Cooling system is unknown to me. I top off the expansion tank every so often and thats about it. I probably should do a drain rinse and fill just 'cuz. A block drain is good to have. Judging from how stingy they are with drains on the pumpkins and a total lack of serviceability engineering, my guess is no.

I don't think there are any drains - lower radiator hose is the way I always did it when I owned one of those.

Turned out the lower radiator hose was the only way to drain the system almost completely, luckily the owner has another truck he's driving since there was some silicate drop out - I'll clean the system up and do more more work on this next week.
