Do you know you can buy the K&N on amazon for under $10 and you get free shipping and no tax if you spend more than $25 (buy 3 of them)

I do know...this is for a beater bike with a very cheap...not frugal...but cheap owner. I run K&N filters or Purolator MC filters on all my bikes.

This is a high mileage, beat to heck 15 year old Honda.

If you want something less expensive I would run a Purolator PureOne PL14610 or a PL14612 if length is a problem. I've been using PL14610 filters on my Kawasaki 500 with no problems. Even cheaper would be the Purolator classics available at WM.

Ironically after posting this...the K&N filter on my 2011 Triumph had the gasket fail today on a ride and luckily I saw the light come on. Lost most of the oil in very short order. Goes to show you, even good filters go bad sometimes. What a mess it made. Spent an hour degreasing and washing the bike today. Replaced it with a Wix.

I had a FRAM motorcycle filter come off at speed. Luckily it was safety wired, so I had the evidence to see what happened. The threads were cut too shallow.

Anyway, I have run PL14610s on my older Honda and Yamaha sportbikes. My new one has different ratings so I get OE now.

I've been using the Pure One filters for a few years now on my Speed Triple with no problems. They get consistently high ratings in reviews. Is your Kawi 500 an H1? I had the 400 2 stroke triple back in 1974.

The Kawasaki H1 500cc triple was a Two Stroke. No oil filters needed.

Mine is a 2006 Kawasaki EX 500 4-stroke. It's had nothing but P1 filters and Rotella 5W-40 for more than 26,000 miles, and all is well. The oil comes out exceptionally clean looking after 3K.

I knew that... Must not have had enough coffee this am! I don't remember any other Kawi 500's!
