02 Grand Caravan with 70k. I changed the fluid last year with filter myself. I want to keep the rig forever and was thinking about auto-rx for transmission.
1. Is it ok to do at that mileage with a flush to complete it?

2. I have a 95 Taurus with 160k. Tran has been changed twice, most recent was last year. Would you auto-rx the transmission on that or just keep changing the fluid?

With auto-rx do you have to flush when completed treatment?

Thanks.

What fluid have you been using in the Caravan? I would stick with ATF+4 given its wide avaliability and low cost under the Valvoline, Pennzoil, and Advanced Auto brands.

It isn't mandatory to do a "flush" following an Auto-RX treatment. There've been posts by Molakule in the past stating that a conventional pan drain and filter change is enough. But yes, manually purging the transmission via the cooler lines would be safe at any mileage provided that the filter was changed after the treatment.

Auto-RX works fine, and it wouldn't be a bad idea to add 6 oz to each transmission for 1500 miles to clean things up, especially the Taurus given the infrequency of fluid changes.

If both transmissions are functioning normally, there is nothing needed besides regular ATF changes, and the occassional filter replacement and pan magnet cleaning.
