Flow vs filtration on a civic?

Okay guys. Typically a smaller 4 cylinder like on a civic have stock oil filters that are smaller than the aftermarket parts which sell for better filtration. This leads me to asking an old question. For a car that is a high-rev engine and that has stock filtration which allows for more flow over compared to relatively poor filtration rate, should this lean me away from a filter that may filter better but perhaps to a negative end? I mean, haven't old honda's gone thousands of miles on their tiny filters for years? I was considering going over to an extending OCI with a 92 Civic VX, but was not sure if I should just change the filter twice with an OEM or go with a Mobil 1 or Amsoil.

In real life it is not an issue. "Flow vs filtration". Probably any decent filter wil go 10,000 miles. The most important filter you can put on you engine is the airfilter. You will never notice what kind of oil filter you run unless it falls apart . You will notice a poor airfilter or a dirty air leak

I would go with the best of both worlds and use a K&N, I had good results with K&N filters on my Evo and my Oil Tests proved it filtered well, even driven like I stole it. I am a big fan of K&N filters since.

Currently though, I am running the Denso OEM filters since I have 5 of them left. The OEM Honda Filters are not bad either, so up to you. I know K&N's are expsensive, but they do work well.

Civic is no different from any other engine, just use a quality oil filter and you will be fine. I like oversized oil filters cause I do long filter intervals (15K miles).

I doubt that 4 cyl with stock oiling system is going to tax any good filter with it's oil flow output. If a medium sized PureOne can flow 10 GPM of hot oil with only 5 psid, then I'd say you have nothing to worry about.

Okay, guys. Thanks for the tips and advice. Since I'm buying Amsoil now I'm probably going to use their filter for the life of the OCI. I've been using the old 51334 Napa Gold/1334 Wix for 5k mile intervals on Mobil 1 0w-30. I've swapped to Amsoil recently and will at least double that, if not go every 15k.
