We plan to be gone two weeks, but should be able to keep up on all the latest BITOG scoop. Will be driving the Fusion for it's 10th trip to the sunshine state.
Dude! If you happen to take the wrong exit and end up in Daytona Beach ...... SPRING BREAK starts next week!
It's on my bucket list of things never experienced. But, I'll have to dye my hair, shave my chest, and work just a bit on the six pack abs (then I'll fit right in).
Springbreak is no good. College girls today are so ageist now they think anything over age 25 is old
.
I like the west a lot, but for us midwesterners the shortest and quickest drive to get to warm weather is straight south to Florida. I don't think you can beat Florida's beaches either.
Tig, it would be nice to get away from the midwest winter weather. It hasn;t been as mild as last year. I'm curious what general part of FL you're visting?

I agree.
We rarely go to the beach in So Cal and almost never get in the water, even we live about 12-15 minutes drive from the Pacific Ocean.
We only go to the beach few times a year when it was above 85-90F we we live, then the temp dropped to around 70-75 at the beach. The water is usually around 50-55F even on the hot days.

I have a condo rented at Panama City Beach(AQUA) for 3 days. After that will travel to Gainesville for 8 days where the family lives.
Enjoy your trip! I love Florida! I was there twice in 2012, for 4 days at the beginning of the year (in St Pete Beach) and for a week in August (Orlando) When we retire we plan on having a winter home in Florida (somewhere on the Gulf Coast most likely, perhaps Naples or Clearwater)

Panama City Beach, then you will be in and around springbreak
. That's some really nice beaches there. I'm sure Gainesville wil also be nice and warm. Another week of cold, cloudy weather is forecasted here

Are those two guys over 7' tall? Has that photo been doctored?
We stayed in Panama City beach for 3 days as planed and the temps were cold for there Highs in the low 50s. Yeasterday we drove over to Gainesville and it's a beautiful morning and much warmer.
Crownvic. When my son lived in south Fl. we visited South Beach and enjoyed it a lot. That was in the early 90s. We plan to stay here until next Monday and then drive home.
Back in Illinois again and had a good trip. A little chilly but overall a pleasant trip. The Fusion was flawless, and averaged 32.6 MPG for the interstate miles driven. I believe this car to be the best trip car I have even owned and this was the 10th trip to Florida with one run to Maine last summer. Good to be back.
You should consider moving to Florida..I do not recommend a condo as the condo commandos are crazy down here..I got into trouble just for washing my car, backing into my spot instead of pulling in and worse yet letting my friend change his fan belt in my parking spot.
