Floor Mats

What is a good source for QUALITY floor mats? The mats which Ford put in my wife's Fusion leave a lot to be desired, thin and small and look like they were made to fit more than one model car. I googled the subject and can only get the "mine are the best" results. Here I can get some knowledge, or at least opinions.

I read the reviews, and Weathertech and Husky made good ones for my truck; but the reviews tilted a bit towards Husky. I like mine. Not carpet, which is good for our snow and sand. Mine cover the floor and are done so as to route water to the door sill. Very vehicle specific.

For my VW I've long wanted Monster Mats (?). More of a tub design, again to trap water.

What are you after? Plastic to take abuse; or carpet?

I bought a set of these for the Regal: http://www.autosportcatalog.com/utility-mats/hexomat-floor-mats-and-liners.cfm They snapped into place just like the factory carpet mats, look nice (mine are tan), and are easy to clean.

If you're dealing with messy feet with mud and/or snow, there's no beating the WeatherTech Floorliner.

They were one of the things that I bought for my pickup truck the first week that I had it, and they've been one of the best accessories to have. 9 years later, and they still look like new... and so does the carpet in my truck.

I just bought a set of Husky Liners for my Accord. They fit great. And there is no doubt that they catch nearly all water and dirt from feet/shoes/boots.

Hard to beat the WeatherTech ones. Made right here in America and the fitment is perfect. We have them in all our cars.

Weathertech. Get the digital fit ones. They're pricey, but very well made and fit the vehicle perfectly.

I've owned a few sets of them for different vehicles and have never been disappointed.

Really? Our Fusion (same design as yours) has the factory carpet mats and they fit like a glove up front. Unless you are referring to the back ones, which are a tad bit small but still cover a good size area IMO. Maybe they changed them for the 2012 MY.

Smoky14, are you looking for rubber all-weather mats? I assume so, but you don't specify. Also, are the OEM ones to which you are referring the rubber mats offered by Ford?

I normally default to recommending the OEM all-weather mats, if offered. I've seen a number of Weather Tech prodcuts, and have owned one set of them, but I generally find that the OEM ones fit better and last longer. The OEM all-weather mats in our Acura are nearing in on 10 years in age now (and over 100,000 miles), and you can't tell them from brand new ones. I bought the OEM Honda ones for our CR-V and they honestly don't feel quite as "supple" as the Acura mats, but their durability is still very good, at least in the few years we've had them. Fit-and-finish are superb.

If the ones that didn't fit well were indeed from Ford, then that would be disappointing. In that case, you really would have no choice than to go to the aftermarket.

I guess I should have specified carpet mats. The amount of snow this car sees wouldn't make a good snowball. The mats I have from ford only cover 70% of the floor on each side. It looks like Ford was running scared about the "run away Toyota floor mats" and decided to cut them way back from any possible interference with the peddles and therefor left a lot of floor not covered.

IMO, OE always look, match, and fit best. Check AutoAnything. They have may custom mats available from Lloyd, Covercraft, Weathertech, etc. I use OE carpet for summer, and OE slush mats for winter.

The problem is that they make VERY few of these for anything other than pickup/SUV apps, not even for the most popular 'me too' cars sometimes.
