Is this normal that the upper portion of the filter ( by pass ) not being glued to the filter ?

When I turn the filter upside down the valve fell off ...

fl500 s from 2014 eco 3.5 with 8500 miles on it , nothing else to report pleat all aligned nothing crushed or out of the ordinary, this filter has been replaced by a TG10575

that is not normal, it is supposed to be sealed.
That said, with the pressure of the spring inside, most likely not an issue, but still.
I have not seen this as a common thing on these Puro made filters. Hopefully just a fluke, all makers have them.

Not normal, it's an error in the manufacturing process. Send the picture and remarks to Motorcraft and see if they respond. They might not know of this issue. Dealers don't cut open filters.

They won't respond directly. They never responded when people here contacted them about torn Motorcraft filters. They may contact their supplier Purolator however since they make the filters.

I had that happen before with the Purolator branded filters. I used to be a diehard Motorcraft person but with all the nasty looking 820S and now 500S, no more. I am using Fram.

Likely the stamped metal bypass end cap was not cleaned before potting and the compound didn't adhere.

If its new oil chemistry causing a penetration and a delamination that would be another concerning ball of wax.

one thing for sure its my last FL500S , from now on TG10575 price is right , filtration is better and good for the whole 15000 km that I usually put on my filters .... I have 1 fl500s new on the shelf here , I will open it just to see if Ill find the same thing
