Looking to Motorcraft for my next oil filter change. Which one is recommended for my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with the 4.0 I6 engine, the FL200 or FL300 and what is the difference? Currently using Napa Pro-select but want to switch over to Motorcraft at next OCI.

Thanks.

The only thing that I can figure is that the FL200 is an OEM issue ..everyone either references that to a FL300 or doesn't recognize it at all.

I think I'll ask what Bryan (very tactfully) didn't.

Are you changing because of price? If so ..check out fleetfilter. Saves a ton over NAPA over the counter pricing if you can handle buying a half dozen or so at a time.

According to our Motorcraft book at work the FL300 replaces the FL200. The actual filter for the jeep is FL842 (only find it at a dealership most likely) which has the same specs as the FL300 only about a 1/2 inch shorter base to crown. If you have the room you can go all the way to an FL1A which also has the same specs just bigger yet.

If you look at the FL820S the FL842 is that size just different mounting threads.

Love the filter. Got one on my Neon too for the 5qt sump. Extra 1/2 qt in that bad boy.
