FJ80 Land Cruisers

You might as well check 1990s Lexus LX 450. More added features than the FJ80

I've owned 2 80 series landcruisers - both with 1HZ diesel engines. First one was a 1993 standard and the second was a 1997 GXL. Unfortunately both of them where written of in crashes - first one T-boned another landcruiser that pulled out in front of me, second one the wife put on its roof. I really do love the 80 series but I'm afraid off what may happen if I own a 3rdo_O

Yep. Both a Land Rover and a Land Cruiser will get you into the bush... Only a Land Cruiser will get you OUT.
There’s reason why the Land Cruiser is the King of 4WD in the Middle East, Africa and the Australian bush/Outback - it’s a reliable, bomber SUV. The UN is a big fan of those as well. Land Rovers have become city slickers once they strayed away from the Defender and more towards the Range Rover - it looks at home parked at soccer/lacrosse practice in the US or at the country/bowls club in the UK. More people in the US bought the Lexus version.

Toyota still makes the Land Cruiser 70 Series for Australia/New Zealand, South America and South Africa. There was a Land Cruiser 120 series made just for Australia after they had concerns with the 100 series IFS - it’s the body of a 100 Series on a 80 Series chassis.

The 80 series has its own following - just keep those Birfeld joints in serviceable shape, it’s a messy job having to rebuild one from what I read on IH8MUD.

I believe your thinking of the 105 series. Live axles front and rear and only engines was the 1HZ diesel and 1FZ. Was most common in the base model 1HZ engine as this was a preferred fleet vehicle on many, many mine sites.

120 series is a Prado here and a completely different vehicle

In New England severe/fatal rust and rot. Friends have had variants and the usual reason they move on. Guessing you would not source one from here.
