Exactly that. My 5.0 can't get down the track that fast,although it might be close.
Imports like Audi with little engines and boost,or Subaru and their awd and boost,or lets say for example a fwd Japanese mid size family sedan can put down 1/4 mile times that are better than the bygone era of the muscle car,and they have automatics that you don't even have to shift.
No wheel spin,and a very broad and high rpm range gets today's family sedan down the track as fast or faster than yesterday's muscle cars.
Do they sound as good,or rumble as sexy as yesteryear s big block,absolutely not however they get you down the road quick,and get 3x better mileage.
That's what I'm trying to get at I guess.
