first post , needing advise oil for mazda cx-7

Just bought a used 2007 mazda cx-7. It has a turbo engine. It has always had Mobil 1 5w30 used in it. It has 30,000 miles Should I stick with this oil? Been thinking about trying schaeffers 9000 5-30w. I have been reading a lot of old posts but still needed the advise. Also thought I would try the neutra in the gas. Thanks for the advise

You need to use a Turbo Rated oil. Pennzoil Platinum meets turbo ratings (not sure if it meets your turbo's rating) but it probably does.

Read your owners manual, find the spec. and buy based on whats on the back of the bottle in terms of specs...

Then use a Syn IMO, turbo create a lot of heat and can be quite the deposit accumulators if using dino.

I would recommend a turbo rated Mobil 1 product or Pennzoil Platinum.

Those of us with this direct injection, turbo'd engine are, at least, using Pennzoil Platinum. The 5w30 is rated for turbos, hence the HT-06 rating, and this oil has done better than most in the fuel diluting environment that this engine sees. If you are out of warranty consider at the minimun Shell Rotella T Syn 5w40. Most feel its the best bang for the buck on mitigating engine wear.

I have a little hotter version of the same engine in a 2008 Speed 3 and Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 has worked well for me. I have preferred it over (plain super syn) M1 and RP in this engine.

I'd stick with the M1 you are using. Easy to get, and in turbo service, it is a very, very good oil. PP is a good oil as well; but in high-heat applications, I personally feel the M1 has a slight edge...JMO...
