First oil change?Just filter change?

I'm wondering if you guys follow the manufacturers recommendation for a first oil change at 5000 miles?
I have about 1000 miles on my new yaris and plan to change out the filter tomorrow,to get rid of any metal that may be there from break in.
Should I change out the oil?
Looks like I could drink the stuff,seems dumb to waste it.

I did only a filter change when my wife had her Civic.

Consensus was to leave the factory oil in until first oil change so I simply changed filters early. No regrets.

On my last 2 new Camrys, I changed oil at 2K, 2K and then every 4K thereafter. No regrets here either.

Do whatever your gut is telling you -- that Yaris will last whichever route you take!

Anyone analyze the factory oil?
I just replaced the filter,and I'd swear the oil is veggie oil.
Gotta love Toyota,didn't even need a jack,filter is right out front with nothing blocking drainage.
I'll think about it a little more,and maybe go ahead with the oil change.
Just thinking out loud.

Factory fill? 1,000 miles? Change both the oil and filter. This would be a good time to switch to synthetic if you wish.

i would change oil and filter now, then at 5K and do the 5K /6 month interval for warranty.

i changed my FF at 300 miles
