So, I service a couple toyotas.
We acquired a 2010 Rav4 4 Cylinder Sport, and it is ready for an oil change.
I have watched the youtube video on how to take the filter cartridge apart, and ordered the special tool on amazon.
I usually stick with Denso filters, as they are OEM. Can anyone tell me if the denso filter for this application comes with all the appropriate gaskets, and the plastic plunger to drain the oil from the cartridge housing?
The fram ultra or the Wix seem to have all the new O rings and the plastic plunger.
Also I've noticed that some of the cartridge filters are just filter media, they do not have the plastic housing on top and bottom. Does the OEM application use a plastic "housing" on top and bottom like the fram ultra does.
Does it even matter?
The book says 5w20 or 0w20 oil for better cold starting. I am in central texas and there is very little cold starting.
I'm either going to run Motorcraft 5w20 every 5k interval, or run Mobil 1 0w20 every 7500 miles.
I figure the Mobil 1 may give me a little cheaper service because I can increase the interval by 50 percent and get one "free" oil change every other time.
Also, I can not find any zerk fittings on the truck. It is 4wd. The toyota book says to tighten the driveshaft bolt every 10k miles. I will have to get the truck up on a lift to see if it has greasable ujoints on the driveshaft, I have not looked at it yet.
