Perfect to funnel the bugs right into your face while inside the car. Those window vents were great.
The transfer switches for the separate fuel tanks were sometimes finicky too. What's funny is every one of the OBS Fords I've owned had stellar AC that never gave issues. Those electric window motors and switches in the few power door trucks I had/have always caused problems. At one time I could change the drive plugs inside the window motors with my eyes closed.
We called the vent under the steering wheel a crotch coolerVent wing windows were called "crotch coolers" when I was growing up because of how they deflected air flow towards your groin area!
Like rotary knob controls on radios, vent wing windows should never have been removed from vehicles.
Especially those big bumble bees. I've had to stop really fast and jump out a few times over the years. I'm sure it made for good entertainment for all the people driving past mePerfect to funnel the bugs right into your face while inside the car.
I remember those. The tank stayed full because I could never get it to switch. Of course gas was cheap so I never bothered to fix it.The transfer switches for the separate fuel tanks were sometimes finicky too.
I recall getting hit in the face with some pebbles the same way. Gave me a new appreciation for the what the motorcycle crowd deals with.Especially those big bumble bees. My Corolla and my Malibu had that lower vent. Loved that thing.
