First Cybertruck Accident

My only gripe is that it looks exactly like the rolling brick wall I originally complained about. Regardless of who's at fault the damage on the Corolla while the Cybertruck is relatively unscathed tells the story.

Ridiculous that this is a civilian vehicle.
The Cybertruck appeals to my inner 8 year old who was a lousy artist (& fan of 8 bit video games)… I thought the newer Cadillacs were overly angular-Elon said “hold my beer”!

And it brings me back to HS metal shop when I made a shovel to use with a dust brush to pick up dust and dirt. I learned how to shape and bend metal and use rivets. Had I thought about putting small wheels on it I would have the start of a Cyber Truck in the 1970's. Good times.

Only this was in line with the budget back then 😷

I was on Skyline Blvd yesterday; it is a road just east of the coast that runs north to south. Beautiful ride; no one drives this route fast unless they are on a bike, Porsche, etc. The Palo Alto area of Skyline can be extremely windy.
Alice's Restaurant in Woodside is near...

The Cybertruck's body is made up of large panels; it will be interesting to see how this gets repaired, or doesn't!

This is going to be the first real world data point on how expensive these stainless steel is in repair. I wonder how would it look if it could never get back to the sub 10 micron precision.

Who's going to know the cost of the repair?
So it likely will record the amount of hours a shop following Tesla's official procedure to fix it, and then charge the official rate.

I just went to a body shop recently and they had a probably 15% higher labor rate for Tesla because.... parts time and wait time, etc. Once the repair shop finds out how much time it cost, etc then that would becomes official.

Your never ending whining about “waaaa people get to buy bigger vehicles than I drive” is getting tiresome. We all know you don’t like trucks.

Nobody was killed in this accident. Corolla vs Cybertruck turned out OK.

He has the right to his opinion, just like the rest of us.
You are right; no one was injured which is the main thing. Knowing Skyline Blvd, it is hard to believe speed was that much of a factor.
Local news says the 17 year old Corolla driver sustained minor injuries but declined medical assistance. He just messed up and crossed the double yellow and hit the CT.

My take is, the air bag in the Corolla and modern safety equipment did its job. I believe the CT side curtain air bag deployed as well. Everyone walked away.

Oof that kid's insurance is bouta be more than my yearly income

When I said who's going to know the cost of repair in response to PB's note that it would be the first data point about repairing stainless steel bodies I meant who in the general public would know what this repair costs unless the owner releases it? The shop that repairs it certainly shouldn't publicize it. Maybe the owner will if it totals it like the battery deal in the Hundy EVs. The entire body is structural in a Cybertruck they say.

You completely missed my point. It had nothing to do with who’s at fault. It’s about accidents in general.
Oh yeah, big truck vs little car. Big trucks are here and not going anywhere so maybe don't buy little cars?

The Cybertruck isn't a big pickup truck. The International CXT is a big pickup truck.

I value performance and driving dynamics way too much to buy the mainstream crap the average buyer wants. Pass.

The International CXT is the ultimate compensation piece for an absolute toolbag. If money was no object I'd be in a 911 S/T. It weighs just under 3,100lbs but unfortunately costs north of $300k. The mainstream buyer lacks taste and is just wowed by big shiny things. The CXT is just a tribute to the owner's insecurities.
