Can someone tell me what the default settings are for clearing history from Firefox? When you go to tools, clear recent history, there's a list of things like cookies, the cache, history etc. What are the defaults? thanks!

Under History/Clear recent History:

I use...

Browsing & download history
Form & Search History
Cookies
Cache
Active Logins

Note: The default is last hour, you must specify "everything" every time for a more thorough clean.

Under options/Privacy:

If you choose "Use Custom Settings for History" and check "Clear history when Firefox closes" this is a different setting from clear recent history. Same as above if you like but DO NOT check cache if you use the disk cache for performance. It will disable disk caching entirely.

You can make the disk cache smaller. I use 100mb. You can disable link prefetching in about:config which prevents unnecessary page loads in cache. There is an extension called "Empty Cache Button" Which you can configure for the purpose of clearing cache on the fly (memory and disk). Will clean and reload all current tabs if you specify.

Drew,

My browser had these items checked:

The time was set to "Today." I don't remember ever customizing, so these should be the defaults.
