I received a letter yesterday that I *may* be part of a data breach via an attack on a company called Finastra. No real details on who they are other than it appears that they're an intermediary for financial data and their sFTP platform was the target of the attack. Anyone else receive this?

They're offering 2 years of free services from Experian IdentityWorks, so, if for no other reason, keep an eye out for this letter.

I have heard some information lately, that it may not be in your best interest to sign up for the "free" credit monitoring because it likely waives all recourse as soon as you do.

Read the T&Cs

YMMV

Good to know. I just skimmed the letter so I'll have to take a more thorough look. I found it interesting that when I searched "Finastra Data Breach" the second hit was from a law firm, probably looking for people to qualify for a class-action suit.
