Last fall I jacked up the axle of my boat trailer with a HF 8 ton bottle jack on 2x6. Pulled the wheel and hub and planned on replacing the bearings, races and seal. Well it got put aside. Yesterday I put on the hub but the HF jack was frozen and it and the 2x6 it was on were 4" down into the dirt. Bought another HF jack and jacked the axle, pulled the frozen jack and installed the wheel.

Brought the frozen jack into garage and poured MMO onto the main jack piston and the piston you pump. Waited 8 hours and it's free and works fine.

Would any oil or PB Blaster have worked as well??

Yes, maybe even better. But the other stuff doesn't smell as nice.

PB Blaster - no.
PB Max - heck yeah!!

Anyone else remember the PB Max candy bar, man i used to live off those things in high school. my car's passenger side floor board woukd just be full of PB Max wrappdrs on any given day.

Suddenly I find myself a bit peckish, sure could use a PB Max now...

I'd probably use hydraulic oil because:-

(a) That's what its for
(b) I have some
(c) It isn't quite such a "mystery".

Well this obviously was not a scientific study. So any "fun" opinion would be a good answer. Even if you said try olive oil as long as it was cold pressed.

No- kerosene is thin as water.

It's closer to mineral oil with some additives.

Poured 3/4 quart in my old lead sled 2005 Buick Lesabre just the other day, but I have been using the MMO off and on for years, never blew an engine yet.. used in oil and gas.
