Finally got my Grandparents 77 Buick Electra 225

Years ago I briefly had a 1980 Electra with the same 350/TH350 drivetrain as yours. Mine was cream yellow with white vinyl top, tan interior and wire hubcaps. It was a high mileage car that needed a lot of little things to bring it up to snuff, so I reconsidered ownership and sold it for the same as I paid after a few weeks. It drove nice though, smooth, quiet and solid feeling.

Had the Buick all shined up for the local car show tonight. Currently sitting at 23,673 miles I believe.

I absolutely approve of those old American style cars. That’s my favorite part of older American cars - style. The tech is nothing to write home about, but back then cars had unique color options, distinguishable styling and outrageous interiors. In my opinion, modern utilitarian mobiles all look the same, the colors are a sea of greys, and the amount of creature comforts is just plain insulting. I wish I had a car like yours!

Wow! She looks great! Have you got the interior all cleaned up like that too?

I have a lot of memories of cars from that era. I was working sales at a Chevrolet/Oldsmobile dealership in 1978/1979, so I drove a few of the Oldsmobile version to that. The big Buicks and Oldsmobiles really were a pleasure to drive and ride in.

The interior is in as good of shape or better than the exterior. I washed the floor mats and wiped down the dash and door panels and that’s all it really needed. The back seat was virtually never used so it’s all basically as-delivered when new. I think I rode in the back seat once as a kid.
Nice! Is she parked in front of a federal or county courthouse?
Thats our county courthouse in Dade County MO. We still have a traditional square and the courthouse sits right in the middle of it.

Those RWD C-Bodies were just awesome. We had a '79 Ninety Eight Regency when I was growing up, they sure don't make them like they used to. Felt like you were sat on top of a cloud.

Nice, Buick fan here.

Back in the day I test drove a used wagon like that. I remember my buddy asking why in the world would you want a car like this...well I didn't buy it and never had one since lol I think at the time it was 10 y.o.

Funny I went to a car show and immediately b-lined to some mid 90's Roadmaster wagons. My wife said what's wrong? I said they're not LT1s

@Creekside - Did you do the oil pump upgrade that Trav recommended? I know the engine is low miles, but if it’s a Buick( distributor in front) it’s well worth fixing this now before problems arise.

All 94 -96 are LT1. 91-93 which look alike are not. Look for dual exhaust which indicates LT1.

In 1977 I bought my new wife a 77 Olds Cutlass Salon. I ordered the 403 4bbl. Everyone else had the 350. I think it was about a $100 option. A good car for that time period.

In 1977 I was a Dallas Police Officer. In 76 and 77 we got Pontiac Lemans police cars. A big upgrade from AMC Matadors in 75. The police package Pontiacs had 400 4bbl motors and were geared a little lower for acceleration. They topped out at about 108! Early emissions cars were very slow. They did handle well for that time.

I haven't completed it yet but it's on the list for my next round of maintenance. I need to do a full tune up and will probably install a new radiator. The seam seeping is getting worse. It is a 5.7l Buick.
