Finally got my Grandparents 77 Buick Electra 225

I use to put a heavy duty clutch for the fan on big GM cars in the summer and swap change back to a regular clutch for fan in the winter. The heavy duty clutch really makes that fan roar and pull a lot more air, which is great for the AC and cooling the engine on hot days. Though it definitely is noisy.
 
Whats 15w40 MFA not up on all these abbreviations.
MFA is a farmers co-op in Missouri and surrounding states. They carry a full line of engine oils, transmission fluids, grease and ag lubricants at affordable prices. I have sampled the 15w40 before and it seemed to be a good product especially for the price.
 
What engine? That is the vintage GM was putting about 5 different engines in the same model; I had a 73 LeSabre and 77 Regal,, both with a 2bbl Buick 350.
It's a Buick 350 with a Quadrajet on it I believe. I still need to pull the air cleaner off and check it out.
 
Its a cool car. I had a 76 regal 350 2bbl. Had the 2.76:1 rear gear held 2nd gear till 90 @ wot.

Clean the top of the air cleaner and flip it over. You will have the most wicked sound when you step on it. Either with the 2bbl , or the when the 4bbl secondaries kick in, will sound awesome!

Edit: carb lid flip may not work well in winter for starting !
 
This has been in the family since it was new, first owned by a great aunt of mine and was purchased by my grandfather from their estate. My grandma loved it so he surprised her with it. My grandparents had owned it since 95. Never sat outside. 25,000 miles are actual. I had the opportunity to buy it from their estate in the last week, my grandma passed in 2019 and it has been sitting since 2018. Changed the oil and took it for a drive today. I suspect there was PYB 10w30 in there and I installed a Wix 51268 and 5 quarts of 15w40 MFA with a pint of Schaeffer oil treatment. This will only be driven in the summer months so the 15w40 will be fine.

I’ll be doing a full detail, wax and trying to put the trim back on the doors before it gets cold. All of the missing trim is in the trunk.

Wow. What a wonderful heirloom and still kept in the family!
 
I think that by 1977 the Buick V8 was gone. The Pontiac 301 was in production and most Buicks came with either the 307 or 350 Olds. Many had the small block Chevy 350. It might have a 403 Olds, or a 301 Pontiac, but those are more rare.

If the distributor is in front of the engine, it’s a Buick engine

I can confirm that. My Mother had a 1962 Electra that I took on dates for that very reason, even though I had a GTO. No comparison on the "comfort" available in the back seat of the Buick!
Even better than my 66 Impala. It still got the job done though.

I had a 1965 Cadillac Coupe Deville and the back seat was enormous.
As was the engine and the 9 MPG with premium gas.

that '77 Buick is still a top notch coast to coast cruiser.
