Final Drive Fluid

As posted prior; recently bought a 06 Kawasaki Brute Force 750. Changed the oil day one (Rotella T 15-40; Pur classic filter as the OCI will be very short).

Now it's time to do front and rear differential and plugs. Checking the manual the rear requires wet break oil (final drive fluid). Wall didn't have any, AAA nope, John Deere didn't (local shop is only a landscape center). So had to go to ATV dealer and pay $7.95 a quart.

What can I use instead of the Kawa oil???

Maybe I should say wet brake fluid and not "Final Drive FLuid."

The only "gotcha" that I see is the cost; most of these come in larger containers (2.5 - 5.0 gallons). Mobil 424 is $67.00 + tax for 2.5 gallons in Houston or $6.70 a quart--not much cheaper than the Kawie oil (but it is probably much higher quality).

PS..Shell Donax TD is now Shell Spirax S4 TXM and is carried at some Walmarts...you may want to check it out.

I had to stop by my local Walmart on the way home, while I was in there I checked and sure enough they had Shell Spirax at $65.00 per 5 gallon bucket or about $3.25 a quart (cheapest in town), but who needs 5 gallons??

Thanks for the list Tex!! I'll look but seems like most of em I don't haver eady access to. Gonna chch tractor supply store and John Deere. Probably my best bet. Wally by me is a no go for those.

Had the same problem, except mine cost $10.00. I'm glad I only needed a Qt. Amsoil also has some syn wet brake that is compatible
