I left AC off since who makes them varies andmost of them don't have a bypass.

Most of the Champ Mobil 1 and K&N filters I've seen have the dome end bypass.

I think it would depend highly on application. For example, I've seen Motorcraft filter numbers with a standard Purolator construction bypass and nitrile seal, while others have a baseplate bypass.

I respectfully object to your listing Motorcraft as a "cheap" filter. They may be relatively inexpensive at Wally's, but I would call them a "premium" filter. To put it in perspective, I call M1 and K&N "premium but massively overpriced" filters, while AMSOIL are "The Holy Grail of Filters".

I would tell you what I call FRAM, but the board's bad-word filter would just remove all of it...

Pretty much right but there are some variations based on filter size.
For example, IIRC, the Baldwin spec'ed for my truck has the dome end bypass and the oversize Baldwin (longer only)has the thread end version.
Seems like there are a few brands like that.
