Thought this was interesting. Filter shelves at my local Walmart. Looking a little sparce since Champ when T.U.

CN is probably going to win this, but I hope not. Should be happening pretty soon. Revive the Baldwin Hastings name and sell them as Supertechs, white paint and all. Great opportunity for Walmart, but maybe Baldwin can’t handle the numbers of filters needed.

Im wondering if the Champion line wasnt one of the parts of the company that GM put money into just so there were no supply chain problems. I.E. only the ACDelcos that supply GM are being made now, probably on a temporary basis until they source from a new supplier.

I thought the Champ labs factory closed last month?

Would Baldwin even want the business? Private label and big box retail opens up a different can of worms and pitfalls they may not want to pivot towards.

As WM primarily long featured First (to Last Brands) filters by Fram and Champ Labs, I'd imagine the filter supply chain with FB bankruptcy, making their filter shelves rather barren now. Also, the popular applications like 7317, first to go. So, can't say I'm very surprised here.

Also the ~$10 PGI Premium filters like Microgard Select, CQ Premium and PGI STP XL not looking unreasonable for 'single unit' purchase. And for basic filters, with the recent WCW dissections of PGI made AZ STP blue can and AAP CQ Red label make them compelling options for single purchase too imo. I've been wondering for a while if there will be a ripple effect shortage especially with popular applications now. Recent trips to AAP and less so AZ, doesn't seem so....YET.
