Anyone heard of this? They are a wrap around high power magnet that attaches around the outside of the spin on filter element. I saw some oil filters and diesel fuel filters cut apart with these devices attached. They do seem to catch magnetic particles and attach them to the inside wall of the filter.

Holy Sh**! Went to their website and a "filter mag" for a Duramax is $128
I won't be getting one those soon, if at all.

There is a one page article on these magnets in the December Car Craft which may not hit the stands for a couple weeks (subscribers get it early). They rate it highly and say it is well worth the $50. Why not buy some cheap magnets though and use a hose clamp to ensure they don't get knocked off?
i used one on a K&N filter on my toyota truck and when i opened it up to check inside the hole filter was pushed to one side.what a mess.never again
I believe they can be had for about $15 at JC Whitney. BTW, I don't run a filter mag, but next summer may try JC Whitney's oil cooler that wraps around the filter (also saw in either Summit or JEGs catalog).
