Hi Guys,

My wifey today had fender/bender
No damage to her Mustang ...
It wasn't a high speed accident.

No visible damage to truck ... ( Its a rusted back fender )

They agreed to not go via insurance .... Gentleman called and ask for a money ... we agreed to pay to replace his bumper ..

Is there any form that I can get him to sign to proof that this is our settlement ...

I don't want him to call insurance next day and pretend that he didn't get money.

Thank You

usually you write "paid in full" on the memo line of the check.

The insurance settlement checks i've gotten have a lengthy legalese on the endorsement section that you may have a hard time recreating.

He is going to pocket the money, but there is nothing OP can do about it. As long as that guy write a note about accepting the payment as final settlement with his name, driver license number and date, then it is okay.

I got rear ended several times number of years ago, I wrote a note to the other parties and took the checks. I then had the car fixed at the place of my choosing.

What's wrong with the guy pocket the $ if he can fix it with a junk yard parts himself?

Write up a short statement that acknowledges that in receipt of the sum of XXX dollars, the damages and liability incurred from vehicle accident occurring on x date is considered settled and paid in full. Identify the two cars involved by VIN and license plate.

Provide two copies that you both sign. Each keeps one.
That way you have something in writing if he decides to change his mind.
