It's marxist doctrine to concern yourself with others? Wow. I certainly hope you never fall on hard times. Just know there are people unlike you that would help you, and they aren't communists.

I used to teach in an underprivileged elementary school, now I do IT work across the whole district. These parents are handed everything and given every opportunity, but show one of the first graders a picture of a supermarket and they say "That's where momma gets the wine and cigarettes." True story, and it's just one of many.
My career is based in helping young people who have no access to technology learn it so that they can be more marketable and successful in the workplace so they can succeed as I have. I could get better pay elsewhere, but I do this job because I feel it is a real way to better the world. I'd rather teach a man to fish than work a soup kitchen.

You don't have to justify yourself to me, I'm not the one you have answer to.
You know, for every example you can site of a person who's looking for a handout because they think they deserve it, or because they're lazy or whatever, there'a another person who actually does need help, and isn't just being lazy.

I don't think anyone has said that there is anything wrong with helping others who are in need. I think I made that somewhat clear in post #1302888.

Now I feel guilty about starting a thread about being guilty

As someone who did not do well with the Public School system and I was in the "system" as phonics were outlawed and "new" math was the rage I am jealous of anyone like you who has a grasp of the English language.

Thank someone for spell check! (At least I sound like a 4th grader instead of a 2nd...)
