Has anyone tried these? I've searched this site and haven't found too many people who have actually used them.

So if you have used them please post if they turned out to be junk or acceptable?

Also has anyone tried any MOOG struts?

I'm looking at quick struts at rock auto for our 2012 Traverse, and these FCS ones are half the price of the KYB's that I would normally look to use.

The MOOG's are 3/4 of the KYB's

Thanks

I was looking at struts for a car and noticed this brand. Two other things are the prices are extremely low (as you note) and they appear to be extremely popular with RA shoppers as indicated by the ❤️ next to the parts. All that tells us is that they sell a lot of them, not how happy people are with them though.

I used them once on an old Grand Am. The springs were ridiculously off from the OEM springs. It looked like the car had a lift kit on it. They were made in China.

If you are planning to keep this vehicle, I would avoid them unless you want to do the job more than once. If you are selling it and don't care, they should be fine.

They are a short term solution. Short term being about a couple of years. They will wear out faster.

They are the sort of thing to make your car feel better than before for a while, until you either sell it or do the job again with different parts. Or even installing a new set all over again. They aren’t the best, but they certainly aren’t so horrible as to be unsafe. (I’m sure someone will argue that they are 😅).

I threw a set on a car that I sold as a budget buy for someone. They still drive it with no complaints.

If nothing else, they are better that a set of shot struts that don’t dampen anything… 🙂

Unless this a throw away car in a short time I would not put Sensen or these FCS things anywhere near my car, its not worth the labor.
Monroe are close the bottom of the barrel but these are scraping it. Cheap crap Chicom parts have no place on a keeper.
Based on my limited experience, I would install Sensen before any Monroe product.

Mando claims to be the OE supplier, nothing wrong with them if you want something not costing too much
(they are a Korean company that mainly supplies to Hyundai and Kia but have other contracts too)

I was going to recommend KYB quick struts up front and KYB Gas-A-Just rear shocks, but Rock Auto doesn't seem to have the Gas-A-Just now

So, from what Rock Auto has now, get the Mando quick struts and the GM OE rear shocks :)

Have used the FCS recently. They have a lifetime warranty too. Easy to change on this vehicle so I figured I will give it a shot as an experiment. I saved the documentation incase a warranty is required. Seems to ride ok it.

I think the only drawback with the Mando is that it just has a 2 year warranty. At least the Moog is a lifetime warranty and I think they're supposed to be considered better than Monroe but people keep saying that they've gone downhill over the years. I don't think they've been making struts that long though so you don't hear too much about them.

I threw a really cheap set of shocks on the back of my Charger.

The rear shocks are really expensive for this car, but I found these shocks for $46/side and figured I’d gamble. The listing at RockAuto says they are for my police version, so why not?

Compared to the seized up original shocks, these cheapies vastly improved the ride. For around $100 too.

Now I’m not suggesting these will last as long as OEM, but for now, my Charger rides so well I find myself using it a lot more these days. I might keep it a while longer 😁.

Yes.. the cheap Chicom crap shocks.

When Moog first started selling their quick struts, I asked where they got their strut cartridges from, and they wouldn't tell me. Later, I found out they're Chinese, so who knows. Moog does not make bare struts or shocks.

Warranty doesn't mean much. If the part with a 2-year warranty is better than the one with a lifetime warranty, then it is better. Ford's Motorcraft quick struts also carry a 2-year warranty and use actual OE components.

Mando seems to be the actual OE struts, and OE is basically always better than aftermarket, except for high-performance shocks and struts like Bilstein.

Most problems people have with quick struts are the springs and strut mounts. Many aftermarket strut mounts have problems, noisy bearings, etc. Some people also don't like the aftermarket springs, calling them generic, etc.

It's nice to have OE quick struts available :)

So are you going to hold on to your old dead struts in case you need to mail your FCS ones back to rockauto for the warranty? Or leave the car on blocks for two weeks?

You order the new struts from Rockauto and then once you swap them, you send the old ones back but you pay for shipping. That's why if the price isn't too far off, I prefer to buy locally as you can just go to the local Autozone/Advance Auto and swap them and not pay shipping. Lately they've been a lot more than Rockauto even with the discount codes that don't even seem to work anymore.

I bought some for the rear of my Camry in January. Unfortunately I haven't put them on yet. Maybe soon I will.
