I'm particularly interested in low deposit, (ashless) varieties.
I realise that castor and castor blends are probably still king of the hill in terms of protection, but what is considered state of the art in two stroke lubes these days, as it's been a looooong time (nearly two decades

) since I raced karts and used either Castrol TTS and Agip 2T @ 40:1 in Yamaha's and Castrol R30 castor @ 16:1 in Parilla's and PCR's.

Just bought a nice new Dolmar PS6400HS chainsaw, so want to use the best lube I can. I've been using Castrol TTS (old habit) in the old Mac and a mates Stihl 032 while the Mac was out of action as it's available and I get it from an account supplier.
I believe these new saws rev up around the 12-13,000 RPM mark, a bit different to the old days.
Motul, Redline, Silkoene, Mobil, etc is also available locally.

go to lawnsite.com or lawncafe.com and look at how many lawncare professionals are using the Amsoil Saber mix. It is great stuff and will not leave you with clogged ports. I swear by it, if you can get some in your area there is no reason not to use it.

If you can get the Mobil 1 2T in Australia, buy it. It's a great 2-cycle oil. It got great reviews here, but they quit selling it in the states.

Thanks fella's.

I've heard good things about the Stihl oil (and Dolmar's stuff, too) There hasn't been a Stihl; dealer nearby for a while, but that has changed recently.

Amsoil isn't terribly plentiful in these parts, unfortunately. I believe there is only one person in the country importing Amsoil, he's interstate and I'm not sure if he brings the entire line in.

Chris, I hadn't even considered Torco, and I'm currently running RTF in one of my vehicles....go figure

Johnny, M1 2T used to be on the shelf at the nearest Mobil depot, but must say I haven't looked for a while.
Interestingly when I checked the specs, it's quite a bit heavier than TTS at 13.8 cSt @ 100*C vs 7.7 cSt @ 100*C. Sulphated ash % is 0.15 vs 0.12.
I'm guessing this viscosity difference would influence the mix ratio, too....

I run Echo's Powerblend in everything for warranty reasons, but I have a strange addiction to Opti-2...

Have you used other oils or do y'all always refill with Stihl?

I like Opti-2 and Saber...both allow you to run your equipment hard and not worry about it seizing up on you. Opti-2 has a real nice stabilizer package that keeps the oil in suspension while the equipment is in storage.

Found out that The Stihl Ultra HP isn't available here.

Anyone have any clue who blends it for Stihl ?

Here, their oils are blended and packaged by Castrol, but who is responsible in Europe and NA ?
