Favorite Parts Store?

I have found I like AutoZone and Advance Auto because they seem to have a nice selection of what I need and I like their store layouts. I recently went to Napa and they were the exact opposite of what I just described.

Just curious as to where you all shop.

I get my GC at AZ, and that's about it. I usually don't buy anything else there or at any other local store. Most of my maintenance items (like filters), I buy on line because it's cheaper and I can actually find what I need.

I like Pep Boys but I do go to Autozone or Advance Auto once in a while.

I get parts at both of them advanced and auto zone but we also use a real commercial auto parts warehouse.. Oil we get in the drums from Conoco And we buy my Pennzoil conventional at wal-mart only when the price is good

I like Kragen (O'Reily's) for the average parts. NAPA for the better quality parts.

I use Auto Value for the most part. They have a great staff and are eager to help. For years I only shopped at Napa, but the ones around here don't seem to have the inventory and customer service anymore. Seems like they only want to deal with shops and dealership, I kind of understand why, but I'd rather give my $$ to someone who actually appreciates it.

As a Canadian, I enjoy the low prices in the US of A on virtually everything I need for my cars.

For oil, Walmart is definitely #1. On my last visit, I purchased 6 jugs of Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20.

For everything else, I enjoy browsing the aisles of K-Mart, O'Reilly's and AAP.

I like Autozone , Advance auto and Pep Boys, i cant stand NAPA and will never shop there anymore, i find their employees to be arrogant , ignorant , suspicious, snotty and generally uncouth, no matter which one i've been or which state i'm in they all seem to be the same . They'll never get a dollar from me , if AZ, AA or PB dont have what i need i go to my Mazda or Toyota Dealers , thats how much i hate NAPA.

I have yet to try Car Quest though.

I like Jerry's Auto supply here. Very helpful and they know what you are talking about. Like Tundraz I find NAPA people to be arrogant and snotty. I also find Autozone people to be less than helpful. I have not checked out CarQuest, either.

I usually use O'Reillys because their prices are competitive and the help usually is halfway decent. However we have a local chain called Poormans Auto Supply that I have to admit seem to know their business real good. A little higher, but also a higher quality help.

I find Aloha Auto Distributing and Redline Automotive (both local) to very helpful and nice, and they have many things that the big boys don't have, like Redline oil, GC and Denso filters.

For NAPA, Checkers, Carquest, it depends on the staffing and location. The ones near my area are great but at some other locations a few can be arrogant.

For parts? NAPA ..except for the price (usually). For just about anything else, AA works. Wally's is the cheapest for most stuff, but since I don't go there routinely, it's a questionable economy.

I was a great fan of AA but in the past year have switched to NAPA, higher quality, employees actually try to help you and in some instances actually less expensive. Someone mentioned arrogant for Napa, well, arrogant is better then no service! At AA one can wait in line to check out and have employees standing there watching you as they are on break or not their job etc. CarQuest can also be less expensive then AA

I felt AAP was much worse than the Parts America they bought out. Had one bad experience with AZ over a radiator hose that didn't fit. I was very happy when an Oreilys opened here. After replacing a couple of caliper kits, a throw out bearing, and a bunch of other stuff from Oreilys with NAPA parts, I will be buying more from NAPA now.

Within a half hour of where I live, there are a couple of NAPAs, an Auto Value, a Car Quest, an AC Delco, an O'reillys and an Autozone.
I gotta love the Autozone and O'reilly for the inventory, the NAPA for the easiest to access, have the best knowledge and will work the hardest to find you a part for something obsolete. The rest are just there to stare at you suspiciously when you walk in the door.

I go to NAPA for the wierd stuff. Their website pricing used to be inaccurate (local sheister owner added 5-10% above list) then they muddled the site to hide pricing.

AA and Autozone I can get a price w/o picking up the phone.

We have a local chain, VIP, that does not do online pricing. They are very friendly on the phone but I only call them as a last resort when everyone else seems unduly expensive. Good for under car stuff... rotors, sway bar end links, wheel bearings, brake lines. They have a long customer accessible bin of exhaust pipe adaptors, angles, Ys, etc for when you need to ruminate over your exhaust fix.

It really seems like autoparts stores are not like they used to be. I mean, when I was young, I loved Pep Boys (even worked there as a teen) - they had as many oils as Walmart does now and parts for all cars old and new. But now they swithed gears to be more of a seller of bar stools, tool boxes, mopeds and such than core auto parts so I stopped shopping there. Plus most of the sales involve a rebate form - I don't care for that as I want my sale price w/o a rebate attached. So about the best place I have around here is AutoZone and O'Rielly's. I prefer AZ, but actually have to go to each one for something specific. When I lived in MD we had SALVO Auto parts - which was a junky store that sold sometimes junky parts - but they were huge and sold lots of stuff on the shelves that were CAR related. Not like in AZ or Pep Boys where the shelves are more toys than work.

Guess I'm left with online stores...

I deal with the local Kragen/O'Reilly's, AutoZone and the wholesale parts house. The guys at Kragen actually let me look up my own parts and they ask me questions whenever they are stumped with a customer. I also use Carquest for more critical parts, they've been nothing less of awesome too...
