I was curious if anyone knew who manufactures the Advance Auto Wearever line of brake components. I did some looking online and found conflicting information. One site dated 2008 and 2011 said Wagner another site said it was no longer Wagner with no name provided and it was a different company. I went to the store and asked the staff and was told Wearever was the manufacture and then was told we are not sure.

One a related note I went to Oreilys and asked the staff who manufactures their house brand of brake parts and was told it is the same as Autozone however they were not sure of the name of the company. Staff went on to explain there had been a parts recall because the Autozone parts had been put in the wrong boxes and shipped to Oreilys.

Just trying to look at all the options before I purchase the needed parts for the the wife's truck and my car as both are in need of brake jobs.

If you haven't found out yet they probably have a nondisclosure deal.

I bet if they have a name brand as well that name brand is the supplier of their store brand, just for logistic reasons.

Maybe ask for an MSDS sheet?

Don't know who makes Wearever, but I didn't have a good experience. Rotors warped quickly under light use on the Windstar. Happy with made-in-USA Bendix from Federated, but now they're Chinese too. Think I'll try TireRack or Autozone severe service next time. Disappointing all around nowadays.

Advance also carries Wagner but generally not available in stock in area stores.

Advance has an MSDS website. It's not super easy to search, so I haven't been able to find any of the specific pads I looked for.

But, I did a search by name for "gold brake pad" and casually looked at a good number of of the MSDS for several Wearever Gold pads.
All the ones I looked at said either Federal Mogul or Remsa. I had never heard of Remsa before.

The last time I got Wearever brake pads, they came from India. They are on my dad's Pontiac G6 and work fine, so the only thing that annoys me is that they are built where the environment isn't well protected. It also had Wearever rotors, and they seem like all the other China brake rotors. I could rant about China, but it seems that very few replacement rotors come from somewhere else. They work fine on my dad's Pontiac G6 so I can't really complain.

I have used Wearever pads and rotors on my cars and friends and family's vehicles. Never really had a problem with them. The rotors tend to be less forgiving when it comes to wheel nut torque and I guess if you are going to be hard on them they will warp easier than the other name brands. The pads however have been fine. The silvers have squeaked for me 90% of the time but aside from noise stopped well and did their job when family members were in a pinch and needed cheap brakes. No issues with those all the way down to the wear sensors. I personally used the Gold series on my cars which in some cases were ceramic and also never had any issues or squeaking from the Gold line. Not saying I prefer them over other brands but the times I used them they worked just fine. Interested in checking out their top of the line Platinum? Pads. Look to be pretty fancy and with the online coupons might be hard to beat price wise. Most are ceramic as well and come with all the needed hardware and even grease for the slides.

I would bet all of their lines are made by Wagner.

The Gold line is designed to be the OE equivalent. They will either be ceramic or semi-metallic depending on what was original equipment for the application. They usually (maybe always) have chamfered edges in the Gold line. Silver pads are generally semi-metallic and often don't have chamfered edges. Economy pads also don't have the chamfered edges and are often organic material.

I've had great success with Raybestos products as well as Centric and Hawk. I tend to stick with those brands. In the past I haven't been very happy with EBC products and will never buy them again.

For a little more than the cost of Advance products, you would be better served with OEM parts from your dealer or online parts dealer. When in doubt definitely go OEM if you're happy with the performance and longevity of what came on it.

Ended up mail ordering a Bendix one.

Wagner makes SOME of the AAP gold pads but not all. You will find that even on the same part number, they have more than one manufacturer. I worked for AAP for 7 years and I can't say i had quality issues with gold pads.

Did the Bendix hose come from somewhere other than China? The only aftermarket company that sold me a hose from somewhere else was "uRO" brand.
