I got to thinking and wondered what kinda boots do people like. such as work boots , cowboy boots ect. and more importantly what brands. I am looking at buying a new pair in a couple months so I am trying to expand my thoughts. let me know what you guys like .

US made boots
besides ariat and wolverine I've never heard if those. and I agree American made is best but how hard is it to find

Best advice: Think about what exactly you want your boot to accomplish. For me, I must have steel toes, and they must be waterproof, and comfortable enough to wear daily, on my feet for hours at a time on both hard and soft surfaces. Made in the USA is preferable. I got my first pair of these in 1998 and haven't looked back. (Still US made but with imported materials on this boot - other Red Wing boots will vary).
I wear other types of boots, including cowboy boots, hunting boots, snow boots, etc... depending on what I am doing, but I would decide what it most important and shop from there.

Interesting, any recommendations for a good pull on boot(not cowboy boots)? No slick hard leather soles please.

I have a pair of Justin astmf2413-05 is what the tag says they are steel toe and water proof they're slip on and are pretty comfortable . id still wear them but when I drive my car I have a hard time shifting with these on because they are wide and my car is small. what do you guys think of durango boots?
I usually wear my Red Wing style 6660 waterproof steel toes to work. So far they have held up extremely well to gas, oil, and who knows what else. They are super comfortable once broken in (break in can be a little rough). I can wear them for 14 hours and my feet feel fine.
I have gotten about 1.5-2 years out of previous pairs of Red Wings before they started to get ratty. The current pair is getting close to the one year mark, but is still in pretty good shape. Considering the kind of use and complete lack of care the boots see, I'm very satisfied.

Ive had a assortment and spend all day on my feet and the best, Ive had yet as far as comfort are the Carharts. You cant kill the Redwings, but they are just not that comfortable, Wolverines dont last.
I had a pair of 8 hole Dr Martens many years ago.
I wore them to work, out to clubs, had a nice little worn spot on the top of the left boot from my shifter. They were comfortable and durable.
I got a replacement pair and the leather wasn't as good. They were still comfortable and durable but didn't ever look as good.
Then they moved production to China. Never going to be the same again...

Gaerne Balance trials boots for off road riding,Matterhorn high laceups for road riding. Some Chinese Johnny Reb knock offs for something easy to put on and off for short rides. Work boots are work boots - so long as they fit and protect my feet I don't care what they are. (John Bull at the moment)
It's different for everyone, but I find my Red Wings perfectly comfortable. My grandfather on the other hand hated them, and claimed they weren't comfortable, despite trying them a few times. I did have one other style of Red Wings I tried that I didn't like, but found something else. We're all different though, so what works for me may not work for someone else - the beauty of having many choices!
