I liked those too! Made it impossible to be on the wrong side at the gas pump. You're right though; the smallest little bump could tweak your bumper just enough to make it tricky to get the nozzle in.
 
I think my 81 renault fuego and/or my 83 accord had a oil level monitor. You turned the key to ON but not START on level lot and it had a bar graph readout. I did not trust it implicitly though (:
 
On my Camaro I did like how the lights would turn on automatically whenever I put down the e-brake. I got spoiled with that.

On the Golf one thing I actually like is that my windshield wipers will slow down when I come to a complete stop. This only happens at certain blade speeds though.

I also actually like the Hill Stop feature for the manual transmission. When I first got the car I was reading all over the internet looking to deactivate it before even giving it a chance. But now I actually have found it convenient and never intrusive.
 
Auto climate control is awesome.
Also like my auto park brake release. One of my little tricks is to put the shifter in neutral and set the park brake. To go I just slap the shifter down into drive and Im gone. I only do this if I am sitting in the vehicle.

I had an '87 Seville with the vacuum-fluorescent digital instrumentation. On the climate control panel, you could hold down a certain combination of buttons and enter a vehicle diagnostic mode. You could read any codes, see all sorts of sensor status, manually actuate servos and motors, pretty much anything. It was a DIY dream, lol.
 
OOOooo. Just recalled our older subaru had a winter wiper park feature that would park the wipers higher on the windscreen right over a heated element to keep them de-iced. Kyuoll (:

Ditto on the heated steering wheel. At first I thought it would be a "nice" feature, but it's turned out to be far more useful than heated seats. It not only lets you drive without gloves in cold temperatures, it actually acts as a hand warmer.
 
A working oil pressure guage on my toyota truck. I thought it would be a dummy gauge like my other fords. I would experiment with different oil weights and filters and it would move differently when cruising or in idle.

It's not a real mech pressure gauge so it can't tell me exact oil pressures.

Not just one, sorry....i have several features that I like....

speed sensitive steering/audio.
rain sensing wipers WITH manual intermittent function
memory seats/mirrors
BMW (or other) climate control where you can adjust/tweak top vents cooler/warmer independent from floor setting.
adaptive headlights (that curve around...more useful than one imagines)
Good aux audio integration
timed rear window defrosters
heated mirrors/seats
power seats.
head rests that can be tilted
remote window up/down
O/D off/on button on auto trans
steering wheel controls
trunks that actually pop OPEN with remote key fob (my Tbird), not just unlock (my bimmer !)

You do know that is an "old" feature don't you? Studebaker introduced that in 1947.

I would pay more to NOT get almost everything on that list. I like heated mirrors...the rest, no way. Not on a bet.
 
can you comment on each item specifically, and explain what you hate about them?
Just curious.

(of course my list was based on the assumption that those things work as they should...when something breaks, it's always a pain, no matter what it is.)

I like the power radio antenna on my Accord. Although the original stopped working properly a few years ago so I replaced it with a universal power antenna. The replacement didn't last a year before it stopped working, so now I'm replacing it again next weekend. I know all the keep-it-simple-naysayers are laughing in their chairs right now saying, "that's exactly why I don't want stuff like that," BUT I could have just left the antenna in the "up" position and disconnected the power wire so it stayed put and was like a normal non-power antenna and it wouldn't have cost me a cent. But the antenna looks ugly in the up position and I think the feature is cool, plus the replacement antenna is only $40.

You forgot to mention auto-dimming rear view and side mirrors.

Also, one cannot beat integrated electronics (radio, GPS, telephone, etc.) with voice controls.
 
Convertible top - Always loved them, surprised it wasn't mentioned.

Heated seats are nice. AC cooling seat was 1000x better! Rental Navigator.
 
I am not so crazy about auto dimming rear view mirrors - some don't have a manual override and that would bother me if they're too sensitive and dim when I don't want it to...

Also...I think they're filled with some abrasive/corrosive liquid that apparently destroys dash/seats if it ever fails and leaks out....
