I've just been going by the IAT and ambient temp sensors.
 
I would leave that new car stock ! the way its and for ever. I would never do anything home made stuff like that to a new car, but that just me, anyway it your car, your choice.
 
Do you have fog-lights? If not, you could take out the fog light blank plate and route the end into that hole to take advantage of the higher frontal pressure zone and reduce the overall restriction of the intake. It would be a good experiment to try on a stretch of good weather to see how it affects mileage and power.

The great thing about what you have done is that it expands your ability to tinker if you so choose....and since you are still using the stock air-box you are getting excellent filtration. I am looking forward to any further results that you might get.
