Just wondered what everyone's favorite carryout/delivery pizza is. Mine is from Wig & Pen, which is a small pizza/bar restaurant that has like 3 locations in IA. Whats Your's?

Papa Johns. Lovely spouse has the iPhone app for PJ downloaded. It interfaces with the GPS, and lets you order from the closest store for delivery to you, or directions for pickup.

whichever one I have coupons for. domino's and papa john's are pretty much the same to me, the more toppings the better.

Cheap: $5 for a 1 topping large at Little Ceasers can't be beat

Best: a close tie between Dominos and Pizza Hut....Dominos has fresh mushrooms though, so they get my vote for the best. Pizza Hut (by me anyways) only has the canned shrooms....

If we're talking national chains then +1 on the $5 Little Caesars large.

Locally there is a place called Squiggis that has the best "regular-style" pizza I've ever had. The rumor is that some investment company wanted to buy out their recipe and start a chain but they wouldn't bite. Whether or not this is true IDK but it really is that good. For Chicago style pizza Lou Malnati's is my favorite, especially "The Lou".

Back home in western New York Pugie's (sp?) was my favorite.

Ugggghh. It's not Domin-hoes, Pizza the Hutt, or I don't have a good name for Papa John's.

I would rather get a pizza from Pizza Patron (the SW version of Little Seizures that takes Mexican Pesos) At least you are only paying $5.00 for bad pizza.

Mr Jim's is a little better than the above 3... a little.

My favorite chain and huge shocking suprise was Papa Murphy's.
Murphy? What the [heck] kinda' pizza are you going to get from an Irishman?
A suprisingly good one.
And since you bake it yourself, you know it's fresh and hot.

You can't get a good Chicago style here. Maybe it's the Lake Michigan water.

I don't know but I've had Chicago pizzas throughout Wisco-Chicagoland and the worst of them was better than the best here.

You can get a decent New York style. There's a little shop here that is run by an Albanian family via NYC. You do have to endure having the Yankees, Rangers(hockey, not baseball), Knicks, or Giants on all the time but they make a good NY pie.

Mellow Mushroom is usually good. I've gotten a couple that were undercooked. Nothing quite like biting into a slice and getting a mouthful of raw dough. :P But when they are on, it's quite good.

I don't trust little Caesar's; I mean, how can they market cheap pizza as 'always hot, always ready'??? are they under heat lamps already made? seems weird...
at least papa's and dominoes is made to order, it's not bad once in a while, esp w/ the improved recipes of late.

I haven't been to a Little Seizures in years. Pizza Patron has cabinet that they keep their's in. It appears to be heated and humidity controlled.

But has it been there for 10 minutes or since yesterday morning....? who knows?

None of the chains is half as good as real Italian Mom&Pop pizza. Yes, the local Italian Mom&Pop pizza is about 50% more expensive but the quality is so much better, I rather eat smaller portion than larger one with lower quality.

I agree...except they don't necessarily need to be Italian.

I've had really great pizzas made by Albanians and even from opposite ends of the Mediterranean from Italy, Spain and Lebanon.

we have a bunch of 'mom & pop' places here that advertise 2 large pies for $14.99-$16.99, so they aren't that expensive; some are ok, some are meh, some are real good.
small and independent doesn't guarantee quality.

Costco pizas in the Redding Calif area. There are other pizza places some are a bit better than Costcos pizza but most are really bad. In fact most of the resturants are really bad in Redding calif.
