faint "electronic mosquito" noise from laptop

On mine, I believe the hard disk is going out. I get that noise that you describe, for a half-second, followed by the laptop shutting down immediately. Happens once every few hours... Whoops! ----------- end of message -------------

That was my thought too. Does it go away when you unplug the laptop? My external power supply buzzes or whines a little.
 
The noise never came back. when I posted here, it had only been going on for about 10 min.
so far, I can't hear it anymore...

hard drive noise or vrm inductor whine.
may or may not be a real problem.
just recapped an asus p4c800 deluxe with a really irritating coil whine issue.caps wre badly blown.after the recap its dead quiet.
whats funny the customer didnt hear the noise.only complaint was bsod's.

Was the customer running a [censored] PSU by chance?
