Factory installed Ford oil filters

Have any of the BITOGers managed to get their oily paws on a factory installed Ford oil filter & cut it open? Got pics???

I want to see pictures, because I'm curious as to what the physical differences are between the factory installed filters & the Motorcraft filters.

On a side note, is there ANY WAY to get my hands on an un-used Ford factory oil filter, equivalent to a Motorcraft FL-820S? Come to think of it, I could probably get my hands on one that was already in service, if I wanted to be "creative".

I did not keep the factory filter when I removed it from my Explorer. But I do remember looking at it and it looked identical to the new MC filter(820-S) I installed.I had heard there was supposed to be a paint mark on the filter to identify it. I could not find one.
The only unusal thing was that the factory filter was incredibly tight.

I have had the opportunity to cut open 2 factory 820s filters about 2 weeks ago. The were built by Champ, identified by the zz stamped on the baseplate. They look identical in every way to the Purolator built Motorcraft filter. The only difference is the baseplate looks a little different. The strength and quantity is about double of a regular Champ filter. They both looked excellent after 4-5k miles. The can is plain white with no markings or stickers and usually have a little undercoat overspray on them. It is too bad they can't build their other lines even half as good as the Ford contract filters.

If & when you get another factory installed Ford filter in your shop, would you be so kind as to take some post-mortem pictures of it? I would really appreciate it.

interesting. The 820s equivalent factory filter I have always seen has been a grey filter with motorcraft written on it.

I haven't seen an oem filter in a few years, i'm referring to something you would see on a late 90's mustang gt, or a f150.
