Factory fill washer fluids smell so good

I've used the Würth vials of concentrate in the past, but they're hard to find.

The 1Z concentrate works similarly, is easy to get, and is more economical. They like to put the lemony scent in their products. Nicer than the alcohol-based products that smell accordingly.

Another benefit of concentrates is that you're free to vary the mixture ratio.

Im going to have to go smell my generic dollar store washer fluid. I never knew washer fluid had a smell. I don't see the point but I do prefer a good smelling wax. The better it smells the better it shines. 👍🤣

Whatever Cadillac filled in my Lyriq smells piney fresh. Same with the factory fills in my other cars.

The off the shelf stuff smells like nothing or just alcohol. Sad!

I recall my Renault Fuego had factory WWF that smell like bottom shelf Ballentine scotch!

'But Occifer, I dint have one drinky, I juss whashd my windscreen with some weird French stuff!"

The high quality ethanol/propylene glycol Non-toxic RV Antifreeze that gets clearanced in the spring for a couple bucks works pretty good. The bargain brand stuff I bought last Fall is a virtual oily slime fest. Ask me how I know

The typical blue stuff is primarily dyed methanol and water. That is toxic and hard on paint finish and windshield wiper rubber.

Be forewarned that many newer cars (last 8 or so years) do not use floats to sense the washer fluid level, instead using a sensor probe. If you use the rain/water repelling washer fluids, they will coat the sensor so it gives a constant "low fluid" warning until cleaned off. And due to the location of some washer reservoirs, this can me quite the undertaking to correct. If you are unsure of the type of sensor you have, just use the cheap blue stuff.

One time I diluted a 1/4 cup ammonia in a gallon of tap water one summer - convenient since I was working a janitor job.

When ever I ran the WWW any and everyone in the car would complain!

Made good "smelling salts' if you were drifting off on the highway homeward bound after dropping of your new GF near the city at 1:30 in the morning.

Any news? 🙏

Windshield Washer Fluid W662 Pink
CCi MANUFACTURING IL CORPORATION
15550 Canal Bank Road, Lemont, IL 60439
Ethyl Alcohol (Ethanol) 90 - 100 %
Isopropyl Alcohol (Isopropanol) 3 - 5%
Fragrance Proprietary Less than 1%
Proprietary Inhibitors Proprietary Less than 1%
Water 7732-18-5 0 - 10 %

Not much help but I would guess if you wanted to by 10,000 gallons of concentrate they might ship you some. :)

Dealer usually fills the reservoir during PDI -- ask the dealer what they are using in their shop.
That's my understanding too. I know some will roll their eyes but I'm 99% certain this is the case for vehicles built overseas and shipped by ocean. They are going to save weight everywhere they reasonably can. Not sure if this applies to domestic-built vehicles though.

90% alcohol ? I never would have guessed the concentration was that high.

And also, an SDS isn't an ingredient list. They only need to list hazardous components, not everything. I guess these guys don't care and maybe are listing everything since they include a fragrance and water.

Comes to the plant as a concentrate and is mixed while being piped to the fluid fill job station. Saves a ton in transportation costs

Same deal with coolant, comes full strength then is mixed onsite to save shipping.

Also there is this stuff. I'm guessing it's the same as W662 Pink but with a different dye. One reviewer on Amazon mentioned a new car type smell. I'd try it. Kind of pricey on amazon but I found it for less on gmparts.com.

That’s the stuff I posted earlier, the supposed Rivian fluid. Not CA-legal sadly. But, Nextsett Krystal Klar works fine.

I never thought about the cheap blue stuff being hard on wipers. I just thought all wipers now were junk. No matter the brand they never last very long.
