Hey everyone, I just bought a 2025 F-150 with the 5.0 engine. I plan to do the first oil change at 1,000 miles and then every 3,000 miles after that (I’d rather change it more often than needed). I’m going to use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum oil.
My driving is mostly a mix of highway and city, but I will occasionally be towing.
I’m trying to figure out what oil filter to go with. My head tells me to use Motorcraft because I feel it would help in a warranty situation, but after browsing forums, the quality of those filters looks questionable. A lot of people mention poor glue work on the internals.
Does it make more sense to stick with Motorcraft until the warranty is up, or use a non-OEM filter?
What filter would you guys recommend?

Avoid the Motorcraft.

I have a 2018 F150 with the 5.0 and I've been running Carquest Premium/Microguard Select and have been very happy with them. I have a South Korean Mobil 1 on now and will likely get the Carquest EP next.

I would stick to the Premium Guard filters (Carquest Premium/Carquest EP/Micoguard Select) for consistent quality and filtration or the new Mobil 1 filters. Anything M&H is super questionable with the glue. And I've never been a Fram guy.

I think there are better choices out there. Motorcraft filters are not what they used to be the last 3+ years. There is more than a few youtube videos on their issues.

if you have an Oreilly Auto Parts, they have Microgard Select 10k filters that are a solid choice.

I think I like the way you spell Microguard better. The cool factor of misspelling words has worn off IMO. But that's on O'Reilly.
