Why would you go from M1 to cheap ole Superflo?

Because I started reading BITOG

The engine will probably outlast the rest of the car and M1 seems too spendy (still have 4qt M1 and 4qt PP in stash) Maybe syn in winters and cheap dino in summers.

I used to run it in my wife's 2000 malibu. I liked superflo fine. The only reason I won't run it in her new camry is autozone is too high on it. I can buy 5qt jug of qs, gtx, pennzoil or any dino just as cheap at walmart. Autozone seems a bit high on everything these days to me.

They do advertise Superflo... they sponsor race cars, etc. There was a JGTC racecar with a Superflo logo on it. It was an Esso Ultraflo Supra JGTC but changed to Exxon Superflo Supra (IIRC) when it was displayed in the video game Gran Turismo 4. That's just one small example. But there isn't much advertising for it, that's for sure

It was also featured in Forza (another racing simulator):

Isn't it the same as Mobil 5000?

It is not the same as Clean 5000. Clean 5000 has 16% more cleaning additives.

It is a solid conventional oil at a bargain price. It even meets the GM6094M spec that Castrol GTX does not meet (at least until they finish rushing to reformulate to get back on the GM approved list after being kicked off of it).
